Holland America Cruise Lines (HAL) in partnership with Microsoft embarked on a project offering guests on their cruise ships computer-based classes. These classes are offered to passenger’s free-of-charge providing an opportunity for individuals with varying levels of IT literacy to improve their IT skills in a relaxed environment.
Holland America appointed F1 Consultancy to perform an ambitious series of upgrades on laptop computers used by passengers on its luxury cruise ships globally.
With an average of 20 laptops per ship, HAL have approximately 240 laptops that needed to be upgraded from Microsoft Vista to Windows 7. The upgrades needed to be completed in the shortest, practical time frame ensuring at all times that the disruption to the Digital Workshops on board each ship is kept to an absolute minimum.
Through meticulous planning by the HAL/F1 project team, F1 were able to rendezvous with the cruise liners in 5 countries at the earliest possible convenience without causing any disruption to scheduled classes on-board.
F1 also provide round the clock support to the “Techsperts” on board wherever they may be located around the world.
